Elder and Sister Collins, from Castries, received permission from President Robinson for us to hold our district meeting at a most spectacular waterfall setting that only Mother Nature can create. We met in Dennery, which is about half way between Castries and Vieux Fort, then another three or four miles off the main highway to the trail head. After a short hike, which included wading the river, we were at our venue. A beautiful waterfall/lagoon surrounded by lush tropical growth. The district leader's lesson included watching parts of two different DVD's and thanks to modern technology (and our lap top computer) we were able to view the DVD clips. We did have two couples (white tourists) wonder in to take a few pictures but it created no problem for us. A most unique district meeting. We have been spending time with the elders almost everyday. Most of their investigators right now are single mothers so they ask if we will go with them which we are more than happy to do. We drive to Laborie each Sunday night to have a family home evening with the William family, Evans and Betherlie, and their daughters, Evanella and Swansey. A month or so past Betherlie made it known that she has a table top sewing machine to which Sister Faux made known that she likes to sew. This resulted in us spending the better part of Saturday at their home as Sister Faux made a jacket for a dress that Swamsey wanted to wear to church on Sunday. When it was finished and as we were leaving we remarked, "We will see you in church tomorrow", to which Swansey replied, "Not tomorrow, I;m going to the Catholic Church". It seems she has been named as a god-mother for the daughter of an acquaintance and Sunday the baby was being christened so she needed/wanted to be there. So you just never know. All the while Sister Faux was sewing Elder Faux had found a shady spot for his lawn chair on the beach right near their home to read and relax and enjoy the cool ocean breeze. Hi, This is Siste Faux, I finally get my time to speak !! Can I just say that the church really is true--we learn that stronger every day. The Elders are such great teachers and we enjoy being with them and listening to their lessons. They answer each question the investigators ask. They do quite amaze us and makes us wish we knew the scriptures as they do. What a great force they present to the world. Many of those checking out the church are young unmarried , mothers and single girls. Life is hard for them and I know if they join the church and stay strong life can improve . Yesterday we had six investigators check out the church and each Sunday it is the same. The branch has a few problems occasionally but they are wonderful people and many of them are strong and faithful members. We enjoy being with them. Please note my shoes that is called hard work.We send our love. Please write to us. Elder and Sister Faux

For preparation day this week the elders thought it would be fun to do some sight seeing as they would be transferring on Wednesday and this would be their last chance on St Lucia. We agreed and decided to visit the Botanical Gardens and Sulfur Springs near the city of Soufriere, about a hour drive north of Vieux Fort. The botanical gardens are a gardeners dream come true. Plants of every kind, flowers blooming galore, and what made it even prettier was the little off and on rain showers that had everything looking so fresh. At the head of the trail is this picturesque water fall you are warned to stay out of because of it's high sulfur content. We had to enclose a picture of our favorite bead salesman we met at the entrance to the botanical gardens. Quite a friendly fellow. From the gardens we drove to the Sulfur Springs that are a result of volcanic action hundreds of years past. The water that flows from them is touted as being very beneficial for achy creaky bones and the mud from the river bed for beautiful complexions. Dora is giving it a try as a foot bath and the elders trying to improve their complexion. For results it has to dry as can be seen in the picture. As Wednesday was transfer day we drove the elders to Castries to meet their departure schedules. But before they flew out we all had to have lunch at the favorite sandwich shop of the mission. After enjoying your sandwich you then take a five minute walk to a most delectable ice cream parlor for dessert. This is where we are headed in the picture with all the elders. We are happy to have you meet Elders Ash and DeMasters, our new elders in Vieux Fort. For Pl Grove natives Lloyd and Wayne Ash are uncles once removed and LeRoy Ash his g-grandfather. Regina and Donna. Sister Faux was approached by Regina, as she browsed in the store where she works, to ask about the church. Sister Faux made enough of an impression on her that she agreed to have the elders visit with her. This was our first discussion with her and as a bonus we had her friend Donna join with us. We have high hopes for each of them. Another busy and productive week on St Lucia. Tell all hello, Love E & S Dave and Dora

Another good week in/on St Lucia. We have spent a lot of time with the elders in their teaching. We enjoy this as it gives us the opportunity to see some interesting places and meet their investigators. However, after visiting with one of them this week it gave us some concern about the elders. The person's name is Marilyn, she doesn't read, lives in a small house with about five to many people and talking to her was like speaking to a poster board. Dora refused to go back the second time. In fact, when she woke the next morning the first thing she said was, "I not going back to Marilyn's and i I can't believe the elders are still trying to teach her". They did give it one more go, without Dora, before scratching her name. We enjoyed have the senior couple and the elders come to Vieux Fort for district meeting this week. After the meeting we stopped by the beach near the church to take pictures of the ocean. We have had some good rain fall for a couple of days and it was interesting to see the discoloration of the ocean caused by the muddy river water emptying into it. Saturday the big day of the week as Joseph Andy Lubin was baptised. We went with the elders the second time they taught him and a number of times since. His wife has gone to the states and left him with four children to raise-which he is taking quite seriously. When it came time for his baptism he asked if Elder Faux would do it. Once again a thrill to be asked and more than happy to honor the request. No wind the morning of, just the normal ocean swells to content with as the baptism was performed. As Andy came up out of the water he first words were, "Praise the Lord".There are three islands in the mission where using the ocean to baptize is permitted. Elder Rosales is transferring Wednesday and will lose this privilege in his new area. As we were wading back to the beach something grabbed Elder Rosales, at least according to him, and flipped him backwards right into the ocean. We might have believed him if hadn't had such a big grin of his face. We are losing both elders this next week to transfers which makes us a little sad but the bright side is with two new ones we can train them the way we want. Tell all hello. We returned home a little late last evening and Dave planning to get up at 1:30 a.m. again to go fishing so decided to wait until Monday morning. Just as we sat down at the computer this morning the elders arrived and asked if they could use our computer to do the P day e-mailing rather than going to the library. How can you say no? Some how they arrived just in time for breakfast as well. Even though they said they had already had breakfast they sat down and had more. Elder Rosales is the district leader so in addition to his personal e-mails he also prepared some print outs for tomorrows district meeting which took some time so it was a little after mid day noon when they departed. But that is OK. We enjoy their company and they are fun to be with. They help us as much as possible in our assignments so we appreciate them. Last Monday we drove to Castries to spend the night. Zone conference on Tuesday and as two other couples and President and Sister Robison were flying in Monday afternoon it was decided to have a couples night out Monday evening. So with us and the Castries couple there were ten of us total. President Robison took us to a little sandwich shop where the specialty is "Gyro's", (pronounced Hero's) lamb or chicken sandwiches. A great choice as the sandwiches were the best. You should taste one. From the sandwich shop we walked a block and one-half to an ice cream parlor that was every bit as good as the sandwich shop. So next time we eat in Castries we know where we are going to dine. It was a most enjoyable evening and gave us the opportunity to meet two of the couples for the first time-one of them new to the mission. Also interesting that two of the senior elders also play racquetball so we didn't lack for something to talk about. We spent quite a bit of time going with the elders to teach this week. From a couple of the pictures you can tell in rather unique areas. We enjoy going with them and glad that they want to include us in their teaching. On Wednesday we moved them into a new apartment. They found enough reasons with the old one to merit a change, we got approval to do so, but now we are not sure we solved all the problems. Time will tell. Next to President Nicholas the most notable member of the branch, Ganesh, is moving to Castries. He is one of those you can call on for anything at anytime and they come through. Everyone knows and loves Ganesh. We have told him if he were in the states he would be in demand as a youth Sunday Night fireside speaker. Saturday afternoon the Branch held a farewell picnic in his honor which was a delightful affair enjoyed by all. Thanks for all the help and tell all hello for us. Love Elder and Sister Dave and Dora.P.S. the fishing trip was cancelled at 2:00 a.m. because of rain. --
